Founder Story and Key Principles
SCH was founded by David Lang and Colin Cavill. While SCH was created in 2012, Dave and Colin’s collaboration together goes back to 1996. Colin and Collin and Dave had a broker/principal relationship that resulted in them working on multiple opportunities. The onset of the Financial Crises saw Dave and Colin sharing foreclosure investment opportunities that resulted in their first deal together, 1045 Piedmont Dr in Atlanta, GA. This was followed by a string of foreclosure purchases which led to Colin leaving his brokerage business and joining Dave to establish St Clair Holdings. Since then, Dave and Colin have brought in other partners to enhance its expertise and market reach.

David P. Lang
Founder | Managing Principal
With 38 years of experience, David Lang is an expert in value investing for the real estate
industry. His primary investment philosophy is to risk the profit, but not the principle. Prior to
forming St. Clair Holdings, David founded DPL Ventures in 2006, where he has been engaged
as a consultant on various mixed-use land development projects valued in excess of $500
million. Since 2010, David has purchased and profitably sold several distressed multi-family
properties, often acquiring control through note purchases from lenders. From 1994 to 2005,
David served as Executive Vice President for a private equity fund where he led acquisition
efforts. In this role, he purchased over $750 million of office and multi-family properties.
W. Colin Cavill
Founder | Managing Principal
Colin began his real estate career in Australia, his native country, over 35 years ago. Since then, Colin has amassed deep experience in leadership, operations and capital markets through various roles as an entrepreneur, investor, developer, operator and owner. Colin is well known in his industry for setting standards, leveraging creativity, grooming talent, discerning detail and most importantly, driving results. For over 15 years, Colin served as a partner and broker of industrial assets with Colliers International where he specialized in complex investment sales, equity placement and joint ventures. During his tenure with Colliers, Colin completed over 370 transactions in 32 states, which represented over $1.3 billion in property values. Colin transitioned from Collier to co-found a boutique investment firm, St. Clair Holdings (SCH) in 2012. Since founding SCH, Colin has overseen almost 40 transactions valued at $800MM. Colin’s at his best when he is finding a diamond in the rough, polishing it and selling it at top value.
Jason Finley
Vice President/Partner – SE Apartment and BTR Investments
Jason's 15 years of experience in the multi-family industry have been spent in property management, asset management and acquisitions in the Midwest and Southeast. Over the past ten years his sole focus has been the acquisition and asset management of Build to Rent and value-add properties. Over this time, he has completed over $600 million in acquisitions in addition to over $400 million in refinancing transactions. His focus with SCH is the acquisition of multi-family and and build-to-rent communities throughout the Southeast and Texas.
John J. Gerber
Vice President/Partner – SW Apartment and BTR Investments
John’s 40 years’ experience with institutional real estate, accumulated through brokerage,
investment production and operations management, in conjunction with several institutional real
estate firms as a principle. Through the procurement and supervision of over $6 billion in
investments and development projects, John has demonstrated a consistent record of increasing
profits throughout tenure. John’s strengths provide a senior level understanding of investment
and operational focus to St Clair’s Southwest division, established with over $1.8 billion of
transactional properties in Arizona beginning in 1994. John and his wife reside in Scottsdale, AZ.
